Remembering our Sister

GREEN = CREATION, BLACK = SIN, RED = REDEMPTION,
WHITE = FOREGIVENESS, GOLD = HOPE

We attended the funeral service of sister Shirley whom we knew from over 30 years ago but whom we haven’t seen for some time. Although the government advised people to avoid gatherings with over 250 people because of COVID-19, many came to say good-bye to a much-loved sister for who she is.

She grew up in a poor family, so she entered the workforce at an early age to help support her family. Even though her life was hard, people remember her always smiling and willing to help others. Besides being busy holding down a job and looking after her family, she was active serving God in her church and different Christian organizations. But what stood out over all else was her enthusiasm to share the gospel with everyone she knew, regardless of race or…

Remembering Mr. Wu Sr.

Enjoying balloon ice-cream!

Mr. Wu Sr. was our friend’s dad. We’ve known him for several years but talked with him most last year when we visited him at his assisted living home.

We always knew him to be a gentleman with a sense of humor. For example, Ellen makes crafts with balloons as a hobby, and always brings him something for fun when we visit. One time she made him a balloon sundae.  He took a spoon & pretended to eat it. Another time she made a basket of fruits. He picked one up to bite it. His care-provider burst out laughing.

As his age went up, his health went down. While we were concerned about his physical well-being, as a pastor I was just as much interested in his spiritual welfare. So each time we visited we aimed to do two things: cheer him up by talking about his…

Giving All Away! Millionaire Philanthropy — Eternal Life — Francis Chan Christ’s Crazy Love Ministry

If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.

Gospel of Matthew 19:16–30,
Gospel of Mark 10:17–31,
Gospel of Luke 18:18–30
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!

Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”

Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Spiritual Stock — “Should a Christian Invest Money in the Stock Market?” Not Financial Advice — GotQuestions #8

Ask God for his wisdom & discernment in all things www.gotquestions.org/Christian-stock-market.html

Much of the Bible’s teaching about wealth is a warning against putting trust in wealth rather than in the Lord (e.g., 1 Timothy 6:17-18) or to the detriment of those who depend on us (e.g., Ecclesiastes 5:13-14). As long as we honor our commitments to God and our families with our money, and maintain a spirit of generosity and thankfulness, investing is an option Christians can consider.

Tiny Tithes, Big Sin! Where is Justice and Love of God? —Lessons from Luke 11

Woes to Pharisees and Experts in the Law

Luke 11:42 Berean Study Bible

42 Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint, rue, and every herb, but you disregard justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former.

Ephesians 2:6-7

How humbling to be sitting next to Jesus in heaven!

He is the worthy example, the definition and demonstration of kindness, our King who we should all strive side-by-side to be like.

Christ’s compassion and kindness are only a sample. We will witness the full display of His grace in the coming ages and riches of surpassing value,

Because He saved our soul and saved us a seat at feast of the Heavenly table.

Thank you Lord. Thank you God for raising us up with Jesus!
